[ He always has to tell V, when he's done well in one of his assignments.
(he struggles with some of them, and she knows that, and when he does well she's proud of him and it's-- he's glad)
(glad isn't quite enough, but the shape of the word is the most right and so it'll do)
And right now, he's especially excited as he wanders through the house looking for her. Because the printed-out grade sheet he's holding is for English and she knows that's his worst subject thanks to-- that, and so won't she be more proud than ever? ]
V? Neesama? Neesama, where are you?
[ Not that there's many places to look in a small cottage, and wherever she is in there - or even if she's in the garden - she can probably hear Thomas as soon as he starts to call for her. ]

Mm, neesama... do you have to finish anything first, or can we go for the picnic now?

[She thinks for a moment, still petting, working her fingers gently into his hair.]
I think I can take this afternoon off.
What do you want to bring?
no subject
Ah... I don't really know...
I don't really wanna go to the store, so... we could just bring things we have here, right...?
no subject
Can you help me with the sandwiches?
[They should probably move to the kitchen, in that case, but...she's a bit distracted by the fluffy hair.]

Mm... how are you feeling today, neesama? I forgot to ask...

[She leads him carefully into the kitchen (and relishes the feeling of his hand in hers, just as she does every time).]
Still sore, but I'm all right.

[ He glances at her face as he asks, expression open and earnest.
(he barely has to look up at all to do that nowadays, and that's... weird to think about) ]
